Rooney matches Charlton record

Jan 08, 2017

Man United skipper Wayne Rooney says he is "proud" and "honoured" to have equalled Bobby Charlton's club record of 249 goals.

Rooney achieved the feat after he scored the opener in United's 4-nil FA Cup win over Reading and he says he hopes to make it 250 goals in the near future.

Boss Jose Mourinho has also tipped Rooney to become the club's all-time top-scorer.

Meanwhile, the win against Reading means United progress to the 4th round of the competition.
