Portugal reach Euro 2016 semifinal

Jul 01, 2016

Portugal have reached the Euro 2016 semifinal, after winning a penalty shoot-out 5-3 against Poland.

Robert Lewandowski gave Poland an early lead, but Renato Sanchez equalized for Portugal just after the half-hour mark, and the score stayed at 1-1 even in extra time.

7 penalties were converted in the shoot-out including strikes by Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo, before Jakub Blaszczykowski had his shot saved, allowing Ricardo Quaresma to hit the winner.

Portugal will next face Belgium or Wales.
