Portugal end Wales' remarkable run at Euro 2016

Jul 07, 2016

Portugal have ended Wales' remarkable run at Euro 2016, with a 2-0 win.

Portugal struck twice within 3 minutes early in the 2nd half.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a towering header, before his sliced shot from 25 yards was deflected home by Nani, to double Portugal's advantage.

Wales were largely restricted to long-range strikes from Gareth Bale, and failed to score in a match for the first time at the competition.

However, they will still return home as heroes, after achieving their best finish at a major tournament by reaching the last 4.

This, as Portugal will now head to their first Euro final since 2004, as they're set to face either Germany or France.
