Novak Djokovic is knocked out of Olympics tennis event
Aug 08, 2016
Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the Rio Olympics tennis event, after losing his first round match to Juan Martin Del Potro.
This was a repeat of the bronze-medal play-off in the London 2012 Games, in which Del Potro also won in straight sets.
However, Andy Murray and Rafa Nadal both got past their first round hurdles.
Meanwhile, the Williams sisters have relinquished their gold medal in the women's tennis doubles, after losing to a pair from the Czech Republic in the first round.
Venus and Serena clinched gold in the doubles in 2000, 2008 and 2012 Games.
Seperately, Serena began her defence of her gold medal in the singles event with a comfortable victory in the first round.
