Mercedes open initial contract talks with Bottas

Mercedes have opened initial talks with Valtteri Bottas to extend his contract to 2018.

Team boss Toto Wolff says he hopes to have Bottas' future resolved before the Singapore F1 Grand Prix mid next month.

Bottas joined Mercedes in January on a one-year deal as a last-minute replacement for the retired Nico Rosberg.

Bottas has since claimed 2 race wins and sits 3rd in the championship standings.
