Managers react to Euro 2020's postponement

Mar 18, 2020

European football personalities have welcomed the decision to delay Euro 2020 until next year.

Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman says it's a good decision, as football should not be a priority at this time.

The French Football Federation also welcomed the move.

Meanwhile, the English FA says it's studying the implications, as the new date clashes with the 2021 Women's Euros, which England is hosting.

F1's CEO, Chase Carey has written an open letter to fans, apologising for the disruption to the start of the 2020 season.

He says the cancellations and postponements were necessary to protect fans and the entire F1 paddock amid the pandemic.

He adds, the sport is doing everything possible to get the season underway as soon as possible.

A plane has left Japan for Athens, Greece, in order to collect the Olympic flame, ahead of the Tokyo Games.

The flame is due to arrive on Japanese soil on Friday.

According to reports, no senior members of the organising committee were on board, due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

This, after the IOC said it’s still fully committed to staging the Tokyo Olympics in four months' time despite the global outbreak.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Deputy Prime Minister has criticised the decision to go ahead with the Tokyo Games.

He says such a move won’t make sense, if other countries cannot send their athletes to compete.
