Malaysia wins first-ever SEA Games Sambo medal

Dec 06, 2019

Mohd Fakhrul Izzat Afandi has created history at the SEA Games, winning the country's first-ever medal in Sambo.

He picked up the silver medal in the men's under-90kg category, despite having to pay his own way to the Games.

His was one of five silver medals we won yesterday, in addition to two gold and two bronze medals.

The national contingent's haul, however, was not enough to prevent them slipping to fifth in the overall standings, with 23 gold, 16 silver and 24 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, our athletes will be taking part in diving, swimming, archery, bowling and e-sports, among other events today.

Arsenal fall to first home defeat by Brighton

Arsenal are now on their worst winless run since 1977, after falling to a 2-1 Premiership defeat to Brighton at the Emirates this morning.

It means the Gunners have failed to win their last nine matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, another match this morning saw Sheffield United's seven-match unbeaten run has come to an end, after a 2-nil home defeat to Newcastle.

-----

Everton sack Marco Silva

Marco Silva has been sacked as Everton manager, after just 18 months with the club.

His dismissal comes with the Toffees currently in the relegation zone, having lost nine matches so far this season.

Former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson will take charge of the side temporarily, with Shanghai SIPG boss Vitor Pereira touted as a potential permanent replacement.
