Malaysia Loses Veteran Football Administrator

Oct 20, 2018

Renowned Malaysian football administrator Datuk Peter Vellapan has passed away at the age of 83.

Vellapan served as national team manager and Assistant Secretary to the FAM, before taking on the prestigious role of secretary-general of the Asian Football Confederation.

He also served as Coordination Director of the 2002 World Cup organising committee, before finally retiring in 2007.

As manager of the national team, Vellapan also oversaw one of the proudest moments in Malaysian football history - when we qualified for the Munich Olympics in 1972.
