Kane fires England into the World Cup last 16

Jun 25, 2018

England have sealed their place in the last-16 in Russia, after thrashing Panama 6-1 in Group G.

Harry Kane had a hat--trick, to become the tournament's top-scorer so far, while John Stones had 2 goals and Jesse Lingard also found the back of the net.

But despite their convincing performance, manager Gareth Southgate told the BBC there was still a lot of room for improvement, as he felt his side were a little anxious at the start.

England are at the top of group G, level on points with Belgium, but England are ahead because they have fewer yellow cards.

Both sides will face each other on Friday morning to determine who wins the group.

Over in Group H, Japan and Senegal played out a 2-2 draw.

They jointly lead the group on 4 points apiece.

Meanwhile Colombia beat Poland 3-0 to lie third, one point off the leaders.

The result also means that Poland have been knocked out with 2 straight defeats.
