Indonesia set to lead ASEAN countries in World Cup hosting bid
Jul 05, 2017
Indonesia is set to lead ASEAN countries in a bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The Indonesian FA says it will be officially endorsed at an Asian Football Federation council meeting in Bali this September.
It adds that it would be an ambitious bid, but they will have 17 years to prepare.
However, due to geographical and infrastructure considerations, only 2 or 3 ASEAN countries would be able to host the World Cup matches.
Meanwhile, organisers of next year's World Cup in Russia are planning to offer free transportation for those attending the football event.
This, following complaints about the huge cost of travel which can run into thousands of pounds.
However, with the Fan ID system, fans can register when buying a match ticket, and get free access to public transport between and within host cities.
