Ferrari find Sebastian Vettel replacement in Carlos Sainz

May 13, 2020

McLaren driver Carlos Sainz is reportedly expected to be named as Sebastian Vettel’s replacement at Ferrari within the next two days.

The likes of Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso had all been linked with Ferrari in recent months, but it seems 25-year-old Sainz is set to become Charles Leclerc’s new teammate.

Reports suggest Sainz and Ferrari are in the midst of finalising the details, while the Spaniard had apparently been stalling on signing a two-year contract extension with McLaren.

Meanwhile, it’s understood that Vettel has been linked with a move to McLaren.Sainz’s best achievement to date came last year at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished on the podium for the first time in his career in third place.

No tackling when football returns?

New protocols under ‘Project Restart’ have been sent to Premier League players and managers, ahead of a first phase of TEAM training next week.

Tackling will be banned, pitches must be disinfected and players will be restricted to groups of five among others, as officials enforce strict social distancing rules.

Ongoing measures include twice-weekly COVID-19 testing, and a daily pre-training questionnaire and temperature check.

Players have also been told they cannot share transport with anyone to and from the training ground, and team vehicles and public transport should not be used.

All parties have yet to agree to these terms, with a discussion on the issue due to be held later today.

Newcastle paves Premier League return for Gareth Bale

Newcastle are reportedly prepared to offer Real Madrid 53 million pounds for Gareth Bale.

The Welsh winger’s future at the Bernabeu has long been in doubt, and he could make his way back to the Premier League when the transfer window opens this summer.

Elsewhere, David Beckham's new Inter Miami side are said to be prepared to match his salary at Real to bring him to their new MLS outfit, while Tottenham are also keen on a reunion with Bale.

Bale left Tottenham for Real Madrid in 2013 and has spent the last seven years in Spain, winning everything on offer.
