F1 will start in Austria no matter what

May 20, 2020

FIA president Jean Todt insists plans to start the Formula 1 season in Austria WILL go ahead on July 5th, even amid positive COVID-19 tests.

He told Sky Sports, F1 has learned from the season's aborted opening race in Australia, and officials believe they can avoid a repeat of what they considered "unpredictable" circumstances, that caused Melbourne's cancellation in March.

Austria has thus far confirmed over 16 thousand COVID-19 cases, but the majority of them have recovered, with just over a thousand cases still active.

Man City's appeal against European ban set for June

Man City’s appeal against their two-year ban from European club competition will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport starting June 8th.

City were given the punishment in February after they were found to have committed "serious breaches" of UEFA's club licensing and financial fair play regulations.

City have persistently denied any wrongdoing, saying they are "simply not true".

Whether or not City are able to have their ban cut or dropped is likely to have a huge impact on their future planning, with a few players saying they would have to consider their options, including star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Fate of Serie A to be determined next week

Serie A clubs will find out on May 28th if the season is to get back underway, after the Italian government approved the resumption of group training earlier this week.

As it stands, all competitive sports events in Italy are banned until June 14th, and league officials had initially planned for a June 13th restart.

Italy still has over 65 thousand active COVID-19 cases.
