Diving queen wins National Sportswoman Award

May 26, 2016

Diving queen Pandelela Rinong and Silat exponent Mohd Al-Jufferi Jamari have won the 2015 Sportswoman and Sportsman Awards respectively.

Pandelela won the title following her bronze medal effort in the World Championships in Kazan last July, while Al-Jufferi had won 7 gold medals in various meets, including 2 world titles in Thailand.

This is the first time that Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Datuk Nicol David were not shortlisted for the awards.

Speaking of Nicol, the Penangite lost to Laura Massaro in her 2nd group match at the World Series Finals in Dubai.
