Contrasting fortunes for Australian Open's big guns

Men's 2nd seed Rafa Nadal has booked his spot in the 2nd round of the Australian Open after posting an easy win over his unseeded Serbian opponent. 

Over in the women's draw, world no.1 Ashleigh Barty defeated her first-round opponent 6-0, 6-0. 

Victoria Azarenka crashed out and Britain's Johanna Konta retired from her match due to injury.

City Eye Ings 

Manchester City could make a move for Southampton striker Danny Ings this summer. 

According to reports, Ings is one of the possible candidates to replace Sergio Aguero, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign. 

Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku are also on City's shortlist.

Roslin: Give mixed doubles duo another chance

Former badminton ace Roslin Hashim is surprised at BAM's decision to drop mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat//Shevon Lai from the national set-up. 

He told Berita Harian, it's because the duo still have plenty of oppotunities to qualify for next year's Olympics. 

Roslin also says Soon Huat and Shevon should be given another chance, as they showed some improvement in the recent BWF tournaments in Thailand.
