Chelsea, West Ham send Liverpool down to 6th place

Both Chelsea and West Ham have moved to within 4 points of 2nd place in the EPL table, after they won their matches this morning. 

The Blues moved up to 4th, after defeating Newcastle 2-nil, thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner.

Meanwhile West Ham defeated strugglers Sheffield United 3-nil to lie in 5th place. 

The results also pushed Liverpool down to 6th in the standings.

Ref says refs shouldn't be in charge of VAR

A former EPL referee believes that current match officials should NOT be the ones who are in charge of VAR. 

He says instead, the role should be given to specialists who are trained to use the system, to ensure that that the technology is used effectively. 

This follows a number of contentious VAR decisions at the weekend.

Osaka reaches Aussie Open semis

Naomi Osaka has beaten Hsieh Su-Wei to reach the semifinals of the Australian tennis Open. 

Later today, 2nd seed Simona Halep will take on Serena Williams, while men's top seed Novak Djokovic is up against Alexander Zverev.
