Bayern Munich through to German Cup final

Jun 11, 2020

Bayern Munich are on course for a domestic double, after beating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 to reach the German Cup final for a third straight year.

Ivan Perisic opened the scoring, before Robert Lewandowski sealed the win for the defending champions.

They will now face Bayer Leverkusen, who cruised past fourth-tier Saarbruecken 3-nil yesterday, in the final on July 4th.

Bayern have all but secured the Bundesliga title for a record 30th time, and will be chasing a 20th German Cup crown.

Tokyo 2020 will be "simplified"

Organisers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have announced scaled-down plans for the Games next year.

They say the event will "not be done with grand splendour", and are working on more than 200 ideas to simplify and reduce costs for the rescheduled Games.

It’s also been revealed that organisers have not ruled out reducing the number of fans, while refusing to discuss the possibility of cancelling the Games altogether.

Japan’s PM had said in April it may be "difficult" to stage the Games if the country does not successfully contain the coronavirus, but for now, Tokyo 2020 is set to go on as scheduled in July 2021.

Roger Federer out for 2020

Roger Federer is set to miss the rest of the 2020 season, after having a further operation on his right knee.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner had an initial surgery in February, but now says he has suffered a "setback" with his rehabilitation.
