All England Championship: Datuk Lee Chong Wei advances

Mar 09, 2017

Datuk Lee Chong Wei says he wasn't at his best in the first round victory over Brice Leverdez at the All England badminton championships in Birmingham.

Chong Wei played with heavy strapping over the knee he injured in training a month ago.

The Malaysian world number one will next face Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan, with a possible quarter-final against China's Tian Houwei, who came from 18-14 down to beat  Tommy Sugiarto.

Elsewhere, Zulfadli Zulkifli crashed out.

And as for our doubles players. Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing and Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, all reached the second round.
