Ajax and Barcelona through to Champions League semis!

Apr 17, 2019

Ajax have reached the last-4 of the Champions League for the first time since 1997, with a 2-1 away victory over Juventus in their quarterfinal second leg this morning.

The Dutch giants progress 3-2 on aggregate.

Cristiano Ronaldo had put Juve in the lead 28 minutes in, only for Ajax to hit back through youngsters Donny van de Beek and captain Matthijs de Ligt.

Ajax will next face the winners of the all-English tie between Manchester City and Tottenham, which is on tomorrow morning.

Elsewhere, Lionel Messi scored twice, as Barcelona booked their spot in the last-4, with a 3-nil win over Manchester United in the second leg of their quarterfinal at the Nou Camp this morning.

Philippe Coutinho also found the back of the net to wrap up a 4-nil aggregate victory, and help the Catalan giants reach the semis for the first time since 2015.

They will next take on either Liverpool or Porto, who face-off in their second leg quarterfinal tomorrow morning.

Lee Zii Jia will not take part in Badminton Asia Championships

BAM have made a surprise decision to drop Lee Zii Jia from the national squad, heading to China for the Badminton Asia Championships next week.

Men's singles coach Datuk Misbun Sidek insists the player needs rest, as he feels the 21-year-old has been struggling with his performances in recent months.

Cheam June Wei will now take Zii Jia's place in the tournament.
