Malaysia’s Khairul Anuar Mohamad is through to the round of 16 of the men’s individual archery event  at the Tokyo Olympics.

He defeated Wang Dapeng of China after a shootoff this morning.

It was his second such victory in a row, having also gone to a shootoff against Finland’s Antti Vikstrom in his previous match earlier this morning.

Khairul’s round of 16 match will take place this Saturday.

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik are through to the quarterfinals of the men’s badminton doubles event at the Tokyo Olympics.

This, after they defeated their opponents from Canada in the final group game last night.

The Malaysian pair will next face world number one and top seeds Marcus Fernaldi and Kevin Sanjaya of Indonesia in the last eight.

Four-time Olympic champion Simone Biles dropped a bombshell by pulling out of the women’s gymnastics team final at the Tokyo Games.

She was replaced by a teammate after the vault, with the Americans going on to claim the silver medal.

Biles says she pulled out due to mental health concerns, adding that she will decide later on whether to participate in the individual finals – where she is on course to becoming the first woman since 1968 to retain the all-around title.
