Lee Hup Wei calls it a day

National high-jumper Lee Hup Wei has officially announced his retirement after 18 years of service to the nation.
Over the course of his career he’s represented the country at three Olympic Games and is an Asian Championship and SEA Games gold medalist.
The 35-year-old had been hoping to make one final appearance at the upcoming Hanoi SEA Games, but missed out on the qualifying mark.
Malaysia’s Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin have finished as men’s doubles runners-up at the Swiss Badminton Open.
They lost to their Indonesian opponents in the final, to miss out on what would have been their second title this season.
Fellow Malaysians Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai also had to make do with the runners-up spot in the mixed-doubles after a three-sets defeat to their German opponents.

Canada are the latest team to book their place at the 2022 World Cup.
They defeated Jamaica 4-0 to ensure they will finish in one of the top three places in the final qualifying stage.
This is the Canadians first World Cup appearance in 36 years and only the second in their history.
