Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai are the Malaysian Badminton Masters champions.

The local mixed-doubles pair took the title, after a straight sets win over the world number 15 pair from Indonesia.

Soon Huat and Shevon are also the first Malaysians to win the mixed doubles crown at the tournament since Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing back in 2017.

Meanwhile, Lee Zii Jia had to settle for the runners-up spot in the men’s singles.

He put up a strong fight against Viktor Axelsen in the final but went down in three sets to the world number one.

In other results back home…Malaysia missed out on the Sepak Takraw World Cup team title after a 2-1 loss to Thailand in yesterday’s final.

Selangor FC picked up their second Malaysian Super League win of the season…with a 4-0 home victory over Negeri Sembilan.

Elsewhere, Southampton have secured their return to the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Leeds in the Championship promotion playoff final.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has won his home Monaco F1 GP…taking the chequered flag ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz.
