Record breaking start to Euro qualifiers

Mar 24, 2023

record breaking start to euro qualifiers

Harry Kane has become England’s all-time record goalscorer after netting a penalty in their 2-1 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Italy.

It was Kane’s 54th goal for his country, surpassing the record previously set by former Man United striker Wayne Rooney back in 2015.

The Three Lions also recorded their first win away to Italy since 1961.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace for Portugal in their 4-0 thrashing of Liechtenstein.

The Al-Nassr striker also became the most-capped player in men’s football with 197 appearances.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly set to become Bayern Munich’s new manager, amid claims the Bundesliga club has agreed to sack Julian Nagelsmann.

-

Back home, Harimau Malaya edged Turkmenistan 1-0 in a football friendly in Johor, with Akhyar Rashid netting the winning goal in the first half.

-

And, Lee Zii Jia and Ng Tze Yong…as well as the pairings of Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yee… Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei… and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai have all advanced into the quarterfinals of the Swiss Badminton Open.
