Foden Wins PFA Prize

Man City midfielder Phil Foden has been named the PFA Player of the Year.

He defeated Erling Haaland, Rodri, Martin Ordergard, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer to the honour.

Foden scored 19 goals in 35 top-flight appearances last season, as City claimed a fourth successive EPL title.

Meanwhile, Palmer was named the Young Player of the Year.

This is the first time since 2010 that both awards have gone to English players.

Chelsea have left Raheem Sterling out of this week’s Conference League playoff tie…the second game in a row the striker has been omitted from the squad… after also missing the EPL opener against Man City.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly given his approval to re-sign former City star Ilkay Gundogan, who’s agreed to leave Barcelona.

A total of five Games records were broken at SUKMA 2024 yesterday.

Three of these were in athletics – in the women’s 200m, men’s 4x400 and decathlon events.

A further two Games records were broken in swimming – in the men’s 50m butterfly and 200m backstroke events.

World tennis number one Jannik Sinner has been cleared of wrongdoing, despite twice testing positive for a banned steroid earlier this year.

This, after authorities determined that the Italian was inadvertently contaminated with the substance by his physiotherapist.
