The International Olympic Committee hopes the pandemic will have eased enough by next February, to allow spectators at the Beijing Winter Games.

The IOC says, unlike the Tokyo Olympics, the Beijing Games will need fans to be successful.

This, as the Tokyo Olympics kicked off today to zero spectators.

Japan is facing a new wave of Coronavirus infections and Games organisers have banned fans at all events.

Even this Friday’s opening ceremony will be behind closed doors.

Luke Shaw reportedly played Euro 2020 with broken ribs

England defender Luke Shaw reportedly played the last three matches of Euro 2020 with broken ribs.

According to The Telegraph, the United player broke his ribs in England’s last-16 victory over Germany, but pushed on for his country.

This means Manchester United could be without their star defender for the start of the Premier League season.

United are already facing the prospect of starting the season without Marcus Rashford, who is considering shoulder surgery.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is happy with how his team is shaping up, after two mini-friendlies with Austrian clubs that ended in 1-all draws.

The Reds are currently in Austria for a training camp, with Klopp using the opportunity to test out 22 different players.

New signing Ibrahima Konate also made his debut for the team.

Overall, Klopp says he’s happy with what he’s seeing on the pitch, but there is room for improvement.
