Liverpool move up to second in the EPL standings

Liverpool are up to second in the EPL standings.
They recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at home against Brentford, with Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino on the scoresheet.
Liverpool are still 11 points behind leaders Man City…but have a game in hand.

Another match saw West Ham lose their grip on the top four, after falling to a 3-2 defeat to Leeds.
The Hammers remain in fourth with a two-point cushion…although the clubs in the chasing pack all have games in hand.

Real Madrid have won their first piece of silverware this season.
They beat Athletic Bilbao 2-nil to lift the Spanish Super Cup…with Luka Modric and Karim Benzema contributing the goals.
This is Real’s 12th Super Cup title…moving them to within one of Barcelona’s record tally of 13.

Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard are now being linked with the Everton manager’s job.
This, as Rafa Benitez was sacked as Toffees boss…after winning just one of their last 13 league matches.
Rooney is currently in charge of Derby County, but may find it difficult to turn down an offer from his boyhood club.
Lampard, meanwhile, is currently without a club after leaving Chelsea last year.
