Daniil Medvedev has won his first Grand Slam title with a convincing victory over Novak Djokovic in the final of the US tennis Open.

The Russian second seed won 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to deny the world number one a clean sweep of this year’s majors.

Djokovic also missed out on what would have been his 21st Grand Slam title…which would have seen him overtake Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer on the all-time list.

Mo Salah netted his 100th Premier League goal as Liverpool defeated Leeds 3-0.

The Egyptian is the 30th player to hit the century-mark …and reached the milestone on his 162nd appearance for the Reds.

Only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry have reached a hundred goals quicker than Salah.

Daniel Ricciardo has won the Italian F1 GP at Monza, taking the chequered flag ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris and Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes.

Title contenders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton both had to retire from the race after colliding with each other.

Verstappen was also hit with a three-place grid penalty at the next race, for his role in the crash.
