Chelsea have picked up their first piece of silverware this season, beating Villarreal 6-5 in a sudden death penalty shootout to lift the UEFA Super Cup.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was the hero for the Blues, saving the deciding kick from Raul Albiol.

The match between last season’s Champions League and Europa League winners went to spot kicks, after finishing 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.

Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech is doubtful for Chelsea’s EPL opener this weekend, after sustaining a shoulder injury in the win over Villarreal.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel says the injury is serious, but didn’t say how long Ziyech will need to recover.

Chelsea will open their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace this Saturday.

Arsenal are prepared to offer a weekly salary of 275 thousand pounds per week, to attract Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez to the Emirates.

The Argentine is believed to be one of the Gunner’s top summer targets, having scored 17 goals for Inter in the Serie A last season.

Martinez has also attracted the interest of Tottenham, who are looking for a potential replacement for the unsettled Harry Kane.

PSG says there is no reason for Kylian Mbappe to leave the club, following the new arrival of Lionel Messi.

This follows recent reports linking Mbappe with a move to Real Madrid, and speculation that he’s unhappy being overshadowed by a bigger star like Messi in Paris.

PSG’s president, however, is confident the French striker will stay put, as he’s currently in the best position to achieve success.
