Sep 10, 2024

meet the bwf world no. 3

Lee Zii Jia has moved up to third in the latest badminton world rankings.

The men's singles ace moved up one spot, despite not playing since last month's Japan Open, by virtue of Jonatan Christie's demotion from 3rd to 7th in the standings.

It's the first time in 19 months that Zii Jia is in the top three.

Meanwhile Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik dropped from No. 3 to No. 5 in the men's doubles rankings

Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, and mixed doubles dup Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei held on to 8th and 9th place in their respective categories.

--

Man United could reportedly end their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot because of his excessive salary demands.

According to reports, the French midfielder wants a salary of €10m per year, plus another €15m signing-on bonus.

Rabiot is a free agent after his Juventus contract expired.

--

Argentina's head coach has hinted that Lionel Messi could return to to the national squad for the next round of international matches next month.

The Argentine captain has not played a competitive match since he suffered an ankle injury in the Copa America final back in July.

--

And former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been linked with a move to Brazilian side Corinthians.

The 38-year-old defender is currently a free agent after leaving Sevilla in the summer.
