Europa League QF 1st Leg: Man United have one foot in the semis

Man United have taken a big step towards the Europa League semifinals, after their 2-0 win away to Granada in the quarterfinal first leg this morning.
Marcus Rashford had given the Red Devils a first half lead before Bruno Fernandes doubled their advantage from the penalty spot late in the game.
United, however, will be without Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire for the return leg as they will be suspended after picking up bookings this morning.

Meanwhile, Arsenal had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague in the first leg of their EUROPA League quarterfinal this morning.
The Gunners took a late lead through Nicolas Pepe in the 86th minute…only for the Czech club to net a dramatic equalizer in the dying minutes of injury-time.
In other results, Roma edged Ajax 2-1, while Villareal beat Dinamo Zagreb 1-0.

The English FA is planning for Wembley Stadium to have more than 22 thousand fans in attendance, when it hosts matches for this summer’s Euro 2020.
It also has until the end of the month to consider letting in even more spectators, IF the Covid-19 situation in the UK improves by the latter stages of the tournament.

Reports say plans are in place for FIFA to introduce an automated system for offside calls at next year’s World Cup in Qatar.
The new system will send a signal to the linesman whenever a player is offside, to help match officials make more accurate and speedy decisions.

The Japanese government has denied reports that it is prioritizing the country’s Olympic athletes for Covid-19 vaccines.
It follows outrage among netizens…who were angry at the suggestion that the athletes get preference over other more vulnerable individuals, like the elderly.
