Egypt are through to the AFCON final

Egypt are through to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

They defeated hosts Cameroon 3-1 on penalties, after the match finished goalless at end of extra-time.

The Egyptians will next face Senegal in the final on Monday morning.

It will see a matchup between Mo Salah against his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

Favourites Real Madrid have been knocked out of the Copa Del Rey.

They suffered a 1-nil defeat to Athletic Bilbao in the quarterfinals this morning…with the winner coming two minutes from time.

This is Bilbao’s second major scalp in the tournament, having also eliminated Barcelona in the last 16.

The International Olympic Committee is the latest to hit out at FIFA’s plan to hold the World Cup every two years…saying it will have a major impact on other sporting events.

The football governing body has been trying to change the World Cup from its current four-year cycle, saying this can generate more than 4 billion dollars for football.

Boxing, weightlifting and modern pentathlon have been dropped from the initial program for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Instead, surfing, sport climbing and skateboarding have been included, in a bid to attract more youth.

The three dropped events, however, could be added back, if they can address the doping, match-fixing and other regulatory issues currently affecting the sports.
