Captain Manuel Neuer insists he is fit for World Cup

Dec 11, 2017

Captain Manuel Neuer has insisted that he will be fit for Germany's World Cup title defence mid next year.

The goalkeeper is not expected to return to training until at least next month, after fracturing his left foot for a 2nd time this year.

Neuer says he's still wearing a protective boot and using crutches, but adds that his recovery is on plan and that he will be back for Germany's opening match.

In his absence, Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen filled in, in goal for the Germans, when they won the Confederations Cup in Russia in July.
