No Malaysians affected in Newcastle car crash

Jun 26, 2017

No Malaysians have been reported to be affected in a car crash in Newcastle, UK, yesterday.

Wisma Putra says the High Commission of Malaysia in London is in close contact with the local authorities.

It adds that the Commission is providing timely updates to the Malaysian community in the city on the incident.

6 people, including 3 children, were injured, after a car mounted a pavement outside a sports centre and crashed into pedestrians there.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old female driver has been arrested, but British police believe that the accident was not terrorism-related.

She apparently got into her car after leaving a mosque nearby following Aidilfitri prayers, but accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.
