Heavy rain and strong winds wreak havoc in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan

Oct 20, 2017

Mount Kinabalu has been closed due to extreme bad weather.

Sabah Parks' director went on Twitter to say the summit will only re-open once the weather improves.

However, those who've paid for the climb to the summit will not be reimbursed, as they can still go up to the Panalaban base camp.

Meanwhile, continous rainfall triggered a landslide in Kota Kinabalu, forcing 22 people from 6 families to be evacuated today.

Over in Kota Belud, the number of flood evacuees remains at over 450.

This, as torrential rain caused flash floods and power cuts in parts of Labuan.

Fallen trees due to strong winds and rain have also been reported at multiple locations in Kuching and Miri in Sarawak.
