Langat and Cheras water treatment plants resume operations
Oct 09, 2016
Both the Langat and Cheras water treatment plants have resumed operations after a temporary shutdown on Friday night.
Water supply will be restored to the affected areas in KL, Petaling and Hulu Langat in stages, based on a schedule.
More than 420,000 households were affected by the closure of the water treatment plants.
The authorities are still trying to identify the source of the odour pollution in Sungai Semantan, that caused the shut down.
This, as Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng is offering a 10,000 ringgit reward to those who can provide information on the culprits responsible for polluting the river.
He says he will also give 500 ringgit to the first person to provide picture or video evidence of anyone polluting the river.
Separately, the scheduled water supply to several areas in Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sepang and Petaling due to the closure of the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant will go on.
Officials say the temporary measure affected about 330,000 consumers will continue till water supply in the areas resume fully.
