New information obtained regarding MARA property in Australia
Apr 14, 2017
The MACC has obtained new information about alleged wrongdoing by an ex-minister, in relation to MARA's purchase of property in Australia.
The Commission says witnesses, including those from overseas will be called up to give their statements, while it's also not ruling out making arrests.
The issue first made the news after an Australian paper claimed that senior MARA officials and a former politician had spent millions in Malaysian government funds to buy an apartment block in Melbourne.
Separately, a PKR Youth leader from Selangor has been remanded for five days, over MACC investigations into his wealth.
He was detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, after giving his statement yesterday.
The 29 year old's wealth came into attention after his political opponents questioned how he could afford a 7 million ringgit bungalow at such a young age.
Meanwhile, former national footballer Khairul Annuar Baharom has met with the commission, to help in a match-fixing probe.
