Met denies equinox rumour
Mar 17, 2017
A viral message claiming that next Monday's equinox will cause a heatwave is not true.
The Met Dept says while a hike in temperatures is expected, it will not be as severe as claimed.
The equinox happens twice a year, in March and September, when the sun crosses the equator, and it could cause a slight temperature increase if there is no cloud cover.
