The Health Ministry has disputed a study by Harvard and Colombia Universities.

Sep 19, 2016

The Health Ministry has disputed a study by Harvard and Colombia Universities, which claimed that last year's massive haze caused thousands of early deaths in Malaysia.

It told The Star, no deaths were directly related to the haze.

It says based on its own studies, fine particulate matter from open burning poses NO grave health risks to the human body, apart from some irritable symptoms.

The US study, which used a complex analytical model, claimed that the 2015 haze caused over 91 thousand premature deaths in Indonesia, 6,500 in Msia and 2,200 in Singapore.
