Malaysia's first Zika patient is stable

Sep 01, 2016

Malaysia's first confirmed Zika patient is in stable condition, and will be discharged from hospital within a week.

The Health Ministry says the patient, a 58-year old woman, from Klang, showed symptoms of the disease several days ago, after returning from Singapore where she was visiting her daughter, who was also infected.

So far, the patient's husband and other family members have not shown any symptoms of Zika.

The ministry has also started several anti-mosquito measures, including fogging the patient's residential area and places she had visited.
