Perak reports first diphtheria case

The Health Ministry has reported the first case of diphtheria in Perak involving a four-year-old girl from Taiping.

She suffered from fever, cough and sore throat before being admitted to hospital, and had also reportedly received the full course of immunisation. 

The girl's 7 family members have shown no signs of having the same symptoms, but health authorities are monitoring the situation.
