NEWS | BUDI95: Foreign Cars Still Banned From Using RON95

Sep 23, 2025

news | budi95: foreign cars still banned from using ron95

Foreign-registered cars will still be banned from using RON95 petrol even after the price is floated based on market rates.

The Finance Ministry stressed that RON95 is only meant to be sold to Malaysian citizens, and foreign nationals who drive Malaysian-registered cars.

Under BUDI95, Malaysians can purchase the petrol at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, while foreigners driving Malaysian cars need to pay market price.

Meanwhile, the National Registration Dept is ready to extend its operating hours and add more service counters, if there is a surge in demand for replacement MyKads.

The Home Minister also assured the NRD has enough supply of MyKads to cover all replacements.

This, as people with faulty MyKad chips need to have the identity document replaced ahead of the BUDI95 petrol subsidy rollout later this month.

It's because a working chip is needed to buy petrol at the subsidised price.

Also, the govt has set up a website for people to check if they are eligible for the RON95 petrol subsidy.

They can do so from Thursday, at the website, www.budimadani.gov.my
