Floods Worsen In Sabah

The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has risen overnight to over 2,400…up from 1,800-plus earlier yesterday.
The director-general of the National Disaster Management Agency is now in the state to coordinate relief operations.
This includes the distribution of 10 million ringgit from the National Disaster Fund to assist the victims.

Meanwhile, rescue teams are currently searching for an employee with Sabah Electricity who was swept away by strong currents while on duty at a village in Keningau.
He was part of a team that was carrying out repairs after the village lost its power supply due to the ongoing flooding.

Malaysians are being warned that those travelling to Europe via India will be subjected to additional security screening before boarding their connecting flights.
The Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi says this is due to stricter passenger profiling procedures by European authorities.
The High Comm adds that travelers will need to be prepared to provide supporting documentation such as hotel bookings, travel itineraries and proof of sufficient funds.

The government has confirmed that the Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi memorial will be built at the Vision Park in Kepala Batas.
The National Unity Ministry says the land has already been provided, with efforts to now turn to planning and designing the memorial.

And, Hollywood has paid tribute to US screen icon Robert Redford who passed away at the age of 89, hailing his work and legacy as an actor, director and activist.
Redford appeared in numerous American film classics and more recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also founded the famous Sundance Film Festival.
