Jun 25, 2025

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has won his appeal against his conviction and sentence for corruption.
The Court of Appeal this morning delivered a unanimous decision, saying there was no element of dishonesty when the Muar MP instructed his staff to transfer money out of the account belonging to Parti Bersatu’s youth wing.
Syed Saddiq had earlier been found guilty of criminal breach of trust, money laundering and misappropriation of funds…and was sentenced to seven years’ jail, a 10 million ringgit fine and two strokes of the cane.

It says it will not be taking legal action this time…even though absentees are liable to be fined or even jailed.
However, the Council warns that it will be taking a tougher approach next year…with no leeway to be given to those who’ve been selected, but don’t turn up.

Public transport will form the backbone of all future developments in KL.
The PM says this will be a priority under the KL Local Plan 2040…where private vehicles will no longer be the main focus.
He adds that Transport Ministry projects, including the MRT, will help support this shift.
Meanwhile, the KL Mayor says the target is for KL to see 70 percent public transport usage by 2040…supported by more pedestrian and cycling routes.

A new report claims the recent US airstrikes had caused little damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Sources quoting the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency says Sunday’s bombing probably only set the Iranian nuclear program back by several months.
This is despite the Trump administration earlier claiming that the airstrike had destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Meanwhile the White House has strongly rejected the latest assessment, calling it an attempt to demean President Donald Trump.
