The price of vegetables could increase ahead of Ramadan next month.

Several consumer groups explained that it's due to various factors, such as the hot weather, high demand, limited supply, and rising transportation and labor costs.

They add that some parties may even take advantage of the high demand by increasing their prices unreasonably.

As such, they're urging the authorities to take stricter action by enforcing the anti-profiteering act.

No pork DNA was found in the sandwiches at the center of a halal logo controversy.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry said lab tests confirmed the matter after it tested several samples of the food.

However, the company behind the sandwiches, and its director are still facing 14 charges over the alleged unauthorized use of the halal logo.

The Communications Ministry is stepping up efforts to improve benefits for gig workers.

As such, it'll look into enhancing the Rahmah P-Hailing Package to provide more affordable internet services, among other benefits.

The ministry adds that it'll also review suggestions from riders themselves, including requests for designated rest stops with prayer facilities.

More than a dozen new schools will be opened around the country this year. 

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek says this is to help address issues of overcrowding, and ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
