15 killed in suspected new orleans terror attack

At least 15 people have been killed while dozens of others were injured after a pickup truck was driven into a crowd of people in New Orleans, USA.

The incident is being investigated as a possible terror attack after an IS flag and explosives were found inside the vehicle.

Authorities also believe the assailant did not act alone, although they have yet to release any information about possible accomplices.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are also investigating a separate truck explosion outside one of Donald Trump’s hotels in Las Vegas, although there is no indication yet that the two incidents are connected.

The National Disaster Management Agency is bracing for the next phase of flooding to hit the country.

It told the NST, this is anticipated to hit anytime between this weekend and next week, during which the northeast monsoon will bring heavy rainfall and increase the risk of flooding in the east coast of the peninsular as well as the western and southern regions of Sarawak.

The agency adds that the Met Department is closely monitoring the situation, and will issue updates when necessary.

Meanwhile, the Drainage and Irrigation Department says nine districts in Kelantan are expected to be hit by flooding this weekend, with residents urged to remain vigilant.

 

Some 40 lanes for immigration checks via QR Code will be tested out at terminals 1 and 2 of KLIA this month.

The Home Ministry says for now, the lanes are exclusively for Malaysians, at the departure and arrival halls of both terminals.

It adds that the QR code system can clear immigration checks in under seven seconds compared to between 15 to 25 seconds for the autogate method.

The MCMC says WeChat and TikTok have both obtained their license to operate in the country…while Telegram, Facebook, Instagram and WhatApp should get theirs soon.

However, it says X as well as Google have yet to submit their applications.
