BNM Will Intervene If Ringgit Slides Further

The proper mechanisms are in place to prevent a further slide in the ringgit’s value.  

Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying told the Dewan Rakyat that Bank Negara is ready to intervene to stem excessive currency movements, and at the same time promote the currency’s use in international trade and investment. 

She adds that the current decline is due to external factors including the Middle East conflict, and the outcome of the US presidential election.  

At last look, the ringgit was at RM4.41 against the dollar.

The govt will consider adopting a single public university entrance exam for STPM and matriculation students.
