All Systems Go For Budget 2025

It’s all systems go ahead of the tabling of Budget 2025 today.
The PM says preparations have all been completed…saying Malaysians can expect a budget that will further drive economic growth and ensure justice for the people.
In a related development, the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is hoping the Budget will include targeted initiatives to empower Indian women entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, the Consumers’ Association of Penang wants the government to reinstate the sales tax on cigarettes under today’s budget…to help reduce the number of smokers in the country.

Breast cancer cases are on the rise, with one out of 23 women in now at risk.
A Health Ministry expert says based on data, the ratio of cases among Indian women was the highest at one in 17 of them at risk of the disease compared to one in 19 Chinese women and one in 26 Malay women.
He adds that nearly half of patients only seek treatment when their cancer has already reached stages three and four, which is when the rate of survival is lower.

Parliament has unanimously passed amendments to our citizenship law to now allow kids born overseas to Malaysian mothers with foreign spouses to be granted automatic citizenship.
Another amendment that was passed will also now bring the age limit for citizenship applications down from 21 to 18 years old.

Elsewhere, Israel claims that its forces have killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar during an operation in southern Gaza.
However, Hamas has yet to officially confirm the news.
