24 years jail for pu azman

Celebrity preacher PU Azman will spend the next 24 years behind bars. 

This is after court in Klang convicted him on two counts of committing physical sexual assault against a 17-year-old boy two years ago.  

He was sentenced to 12 years jail and one stroke of the cane for each offence, with both sentences to be carried out consecutively.  

The judge also ordered the 43-year-old to undergo counselling while he is locked up, and will be monitored by police for two years once the sentence is completed.  

He was ordered to serve the sentence immediately after the court rejected his application for a stay pending his other court cases. 

PU Azman is facing futher criminal charges in Seremban, Shah Alam and Ampang.

More than 80 thousand school children are expected to benefit from the Anak Kita programme, to help tackle the issue of school dropouts.  

The Education Ministry says comprise students at risk of dropping out, as well as those falling behind in their studies but can improve. 

The ministry adds that the programme has two focus areas:  

One will help the students master the skills of reading, writing and maths, and the other focuses on the SPM.

Police in Kelantan have extended the remand order on 4 suspected GISB followers who were accused of trying to destroy evidence linked to the case.  

They allegedly tried to bury several books linked to a banned deviant movement.
