The Road Transport Dept has unveiled its new standard license plates for zero-emission vehicles, including electric cars.

The Transport Minister says the JPJePlate will have several features, including a built-in RFID chip that will replace existing RFID stickers for toll and parking payments.

He says the JPJePlate will only be mandatory for all NEW zero-emission vehicles.

Owners of existing electric vehicles have the choice to either keep their current number plates or order the new plates.

The Transport Ministry also says it's considering a new legal framework to govern the use of self-driving vehicles in Malaysia.

This, amid ongoing advancements in autonomous driving technology, in public transport and logistics.

Cops are still trying to locate an Indonesian woman, over the discovery of an infant, whose body was buried under a cement floor of a house in Ipoh.

Perak Police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris says the woman is the house’ last tenant, and they have yet to determine if she is still in the country.

He adds that if she has returned to Indonesia, cops will enlist Interpol’s help to find her.

A woman has been fined RM700 for allowing her 10-year-old son to drive her car in Seremban last week.

Earlier reports said the boy’s joyride had caused an accident with two parked vehicles.
