50k Accidents A Month!

Aug 01, 2024

50k accidents a month!

1,832 road crashes were reported nationwide last night, with 14 fatalities.

This means that PDRM reported 52 thousand crashes for the whole of July.

This is in line with the trend of past months, with total crashes averaging at around 50 thousand monthly.

Meanwhile there were over 420 accident-related fatalities in July, meaning an average of 14 people died per day last month.

Also, nearly 244 thousand accidents have happened across the country since PDRM started publishing daily figures in mid-March.

During that time, 2,050 people died on our roads.

The Higher Education Ministry has condemned the reported sale of fake educational certificates.

It says it will not compromise on the matter and has promised to take tough action against any individual or education institution involved.

Earlier reports said that syndicates were selling fake certs from school to higher education level online, for up to RM4,000.

The scheme supposedly targets people who are desperate to have academic qualifications in order to get jobs.

The government is seeking an explanation from Meta for the removal of PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's social media posts about the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil says it wants clarification over whether the posts were removed automatically, or due to specific complaints.

Also, Fahmy says a rally will be held at Bukit Jalil's Axiata Arena in KL this weekend, to express solidarity with Palestine.

--

Separately, Fahmi says drinks served at all government functions will have their sugar content cut by half.

It's to help promote a healthier lifestyle amid our high rate of diabetes.
