JIM: Report Missing Foreign Students
Jul 22, 2024
Colleges and universities must report foreign students who go missing.
The Immigration Department says it's because there's been cases of those who misuse their student visas.
It adds that although the number of cases are small and isolated, it's still an issue.
For example, the department recently arrested a Bangladesh national who was in KL on a student visa but was making fake passports to sell to others.

Schools under the Education Ministry's purview are allowed to hold events using contributions from sponsors.
However, the ministry clarified that those funds must be in line with the Community Owned School initiative.
It says the regulations prohibit donations involving the proceeds from gambling activities, cigarettes, drugs and alcohol.
As such, it's urging all administrators at institutions to comply with the existing guidelines, especially when it comes to charity programs that accept donations.
This, following a report about a school that allegedly organized a charity event with contributions from a liquor company.
